Halley spent the 2007-2008 academic year teaching mathematics in grades 6, 7, and 8 in Harlem at MS 256: School of Academic and Athletic Excellence in Manhattan, NYC. She previously worked for the Youth Educational Services Program as a tutor, and at Trailwood Elementary School as an after school/summer lead teacher for grades K-6. Halley has also taken Master's degree classes in the teaching of Adolescent Mathematics Grades 7-12 at Pace University in NYC. During summer 2010, she was trained for two weeks in the first Project Lead The Way Engineering Course.

Halley was Southwest Mathematics Department Chair 2008-2010. During her earlier studies in Psychology, she took an interest in neuroscience and the study of the brain.
