Kansas!
Say It Above A Whisper
A territory
in turmoil enters the union as a free state,
signifying the beginning of a war to change the nation. Though the state was being torn apart, the
people of Kansas knew the
necessity of their triumph, the imperativeness of their victory. They were willing to take the first steps to
truly unite the United
States.
With
their President standing behind them, they charged into the injustice of a
civil war. With their hearts set and
their souls ready, the people marched closer towards freedom, hoping they would
accomplish their goal. Anybody with
pride or loyalty to his country generously chose to sacrifice his own future
for the future of the nation.
This
noble cause was one of great importance.
The iron-willed people of Kansas
were impelled to achieve their destiny.
Families were torn apart, as members departed to fight. Opinions gave way to persecution, homes were
reduced to battlefields, and loved ones were lost. The people of Kansas
helped to lead the nation in its journey to be truly free. They fought, and they won. The labors they endured then gave birth to
the freedoms the country has today.
Kansas,
unlike other territories, willingly accepted the consequences of leading the
nation towards freedom, by striving to be a free
state.
The opposition endured by Kansas
people was a struggle for the rights of all in the United
States. Kansas,
a silent martyr in America’s
quest for freedom, deserves the respect and gratitude of the rest of the
nation.
