Research Interests:
  • Statistical methodology, machine learning and data mining algorithms, spatial statistics, computational statistics and graphical models. Problems involving high dimensionality and where one can explore such structures as sparsity and continuity
  • Applied statistics (modeling, inference and algorithmic development for real-world problems), particularly in the area of statistical genetics, cancer research, medicine, and public health sciences


Dr. Yan was a Postdoctoral Researcher in Statistics working at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. Before that, in 2008 he was a Research Scientist at the Intel Research Lab in Berkeley, CA.
