Swati's interest is in Mathematical Biology, she already has two publications (on Hepatitus C, and HIV/AIDS), and has given conference talks in India, France, and the SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) annual conference in 2010 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Swati previously lectured Mathematics for Liberal Arts, Calculus I, and Calculus III at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Her teaching encourages active learning, problem solving in groups, a positive learning environment, and whenever possible, inquiry based teaching.
