Takeia has taught mathematics in the Kansas City Missouri School District (KCMSD) since 2006. From 2006-2009, she taught Algebra, Geometry, and Probability & Statistics for grades 9-12 at Central High school. During 2009-2010, she has been a mathematics content teacher, teaching Push-in/Pull-out basic fundamental scholars. While at Lincoln University, Takeia worked as Head Mathematics Tutor from 2003-2006 in Student Support Services. She also served in summer 2004 as a Mathematics Department Teacher's Assistant in the Summer Enrichment Academy for students in grades 10-12 studying geometry and algebra.
