Shawn came to us from Portland, Oregon. He taught mathematics as an Assistant Professor at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, and the Art Institute of Portland, as well as at Mt. Hood Academy, Riverdale High School, and Lake Oswego High School in Oregon. Shawn has also been the president of his own mathematics tutoring company since 1999. In 2006, he won the Sara Roby Award for Outstanding Achievement in Furthering Higher Education. Shawn is also an active musician.

Shawn taught mathematics at Southwest in 2009-2010 as a UMKC Adjunct Lecturer, and during 2010-2011 as an employee of the Kansas City Missouri School District. He has also been taking graduate classes in mathematics at UMKC.
